On our way from Alamo to Fulton Texas we stopped at a parking area (see above map) about 12 miles

Also at this parking area the following were seen, complete set and larger sizes in gallery.

We headed for Rockport, Texas to catch the "Skimmer" for an excursion into the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge the next day. We checked in at the "Fairfield Inn by the Bay" in Fulton Harbor which is just across the dock from the "Skimmer" and was told there were two Whooping Cranes in a local park just north of here. Off we went to Lamar Beach Rd between 8th and 4th streets just south of Aransas NWR. We found a bonanza of shorebirds there. Whoop, whoop! There were actually four Whoopers.
