5/03 Bean Lake - Lazuli Bunting

A Lazuli Bunting was found in a RV park on the south side of Bean Lake. We stopped on our way to the Audubon Society of Missouri meeting in St. Joseph hopefully to get a view of this rare bird in Missouri. It took awhile in the high winds but it was finally spotted feeding on the ground out by the raod. Actually, the first one we saw was a possible male Hybrid Lazuli X Indigo Bunting (1st 2 photos below). While viewing this bird I saw the real Lazuli Bunting run across in my scope but didn't refine until later in another location.
The Lazuli Bunting is No. 327 on my list of Bird Species Photographed in Missouri.

A few of the birds seen, complete set and larger sizes in gallery.
