4/30 Squaw Creek NWR

Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge At the spring Audubon of Missouri meeting I went on the field trip to Squaw Creek NWR. As I was taking photos of the White-faced Ibis way out there I scanned to the right and spotted two Wigeons, one with green head and one with brown head. This immediately caused great excitement. Eurasian Wigeon!! 8th state record - first since 1985. Word got out quickly and another field trip, three hours away, immediately loaded their cars and headed back up here.

The Eurasian Wigeon is my 303th "Bird Species Photographed in Missouri".

A few of the birds seen, complete set and larger sizes in gallery.
