Looked for the Virginia's Warbler but only caught a quick glimpse of it.

2/12 Indiana Hooded Crane

Indiana Hooded Crane (HOCR)
First stop on the way to Maryland was a short detour to Greene County, Indiana to see the rare Hooded Crane at the Goose Pond Fish and Wildlife Area. Although it was way out there I got a few photos and a couple videos. A bonus was also seeing 14 Whooping Cranes.

Hooded cranes nest in southeastern Russia and northern China and winter in southern Japan.

The hooded crane spotted at Goose Pond FWA is believed to be the same hooded crane spotted at Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge in Tennessee earlier this winter.

1/11 Vermilion Flycatcher

Vermilion Flycatcher in Perry County
That's one wet bird in the drizzle and cold. Must be thinking "I'm out'a here and back to Texas".
Potential 8th Missouri State Record and 1st winter record. Found 19 Dec. 2011 at a private
residence in Perry County by Nancy and Clark Thompson. Still present 1/13/12
